A healthy diet and lifestyle can reduce your risk of:
* Heart disease, heart attacks, and stroke
* Conditions that lead to heart disease, including high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and obesity
* Other chronic health problems, including type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and some forms of cancer
Exercise, especially “cardio” or aerobic exercise strengthens your heart allowing it to function more effectively. A marathon runner usually has a low heart rate compared to everyone else because the heart is functioning better. It also improves your pulmonary function which improves your overall oxygenation. As mentioned, people who exercise regularly are usually thinner, less likely to smoke, and eat healthier.
